About these Terms

These Terms cover your use of isthisrealai.com (“Is This Real AI”, “we”, “us”). The site is run by an individual based in Hong Kong. By logging in or buying Credits, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

What a Verdict is, and isn’t

A Check estimates how likely an image is to be AI-generated, and how likely a face in it was swapped or altered with AI. It returns one of four Verdicts (Likely AI-generated, Likely Deepfake, Not likely or Uncertain) with an AI Probability and a Deepfake Probability.

A Verdict is a probability estimate made by an automated model. It is not a finding of fact, and it can be wrong in either direction. Don’t present a Verdict as proof that an image is or isn’t authentic. Don’t make it the only basis for a decision that affects someone’s rights, reputation, job or safety. We don’t promise that any Verdict is accurate.

Your account

You log in with Google or with a link we send to your email. Anyone who can get into that email account can get into your account and use its Credits, so keep it secure. To buy Credits, you must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live.

Credits and payment

• Checks are paid for with Credits, which you buy in one-time Credit Packs. There is no subscription. One Credit pays for one Check.
• A Check that returns a Verdict uses one Credit, whatever the Verdict, Uncertain included. A Check that fails on our side uses none.
• Credits don’t expire. They have no cash value, can’t be transferred to another account, and can only be used on this site.
• Prices are in US dollars and include tax. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the charge.
• Payments are processed by Sold through Link, LLC (“Link”), a Stripe company, which acts as the merchant of record. Your payment is also covered by Link’s Sold through Link Terms. Link sends your receipt, and the charge appears on your statement as “LINK.COM* ISTHISREALAI”. We never see your full card details.

Refunds

Within 14 days of buying a Credit Pack, you can get a full refund for that pack, as long as your current Credit balance is at least the number of Credits in the pack. For example, if you buy 20 Credits and then 100 Credits, and use 30, your balance is 90: you can get a refund for the 20-Credit pack, but not for the 100-Credit pack.

To ask for a refund, email [email protected] from the address you log in with and tell us which purchase it is. The money goes back to your original payment method through Link, and the pack’s Credits are removed from your balance.

Outside these conditions, purchases can’t be refunded, except where the law requires it or where Link grants a refund under its own refund policy (for example, for a payment you didn’t authorize). Where Link’s policy is more favorable to you, it applies. Whenever a pack is fully refunded, by us or by Link, its Credits are removed from your balance.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may have a legal right to cancel a purchase within 14 days. Before checkout, we ask you to confirm that you want your Credits available right away and that you lose this right once you use one of them on a Check. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

Chargebacks

If something went wrong with a purchase, please email us first: we can usually sort it out faster than your bank can. If you dispute a payment with your bank or card issuer, we remove that pack’s Credits from your balance as soon as the dispute is opened. This can make your balance negative. While your balance is negative, you can’t run Checks. We won’t charge your payment method to make up the difference.

Acceptable use

Only upload images you have the right to use. Don’t upload images that are illegal to possess or share. Don’t use the site to harass, threaten or defame anyone, don’t try to overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer it, and don’t access it by automated means other than the website itself. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Warranties and liability

The site is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it, including that Verdicts are accurate or that the site will always be available.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions anyone makes based on a Verdict, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before your claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that the law doesn’t allow us to exclude.

Changes

We may update these Terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after an update, the updated Terms apply.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
